Container shipments with regular routes via the Mediterranean Sea, Suez Canal, and the Red Sea to reach the major Asia ports are rerouting via West Africa and around the southern tip of South Africa, a longer route adding two to three weeks of travel to Port of Manila, to avoid the drone and missile attacks by Yemeni Houthis at the Red Sea.

Expect the delays in your Balikbayan Box departed in December of an additional two to three weeks from the original eight weeks of transit time to the Port of Manila.
